Abstract

The proposal is to determine an effective solution to the problem of load balancing in content delivery networks. This system is proposed based on a thorough analysis of a content delivery network system and taking into consideration the packet size and also the individual node size. The obtained result is then used to maximize the performance of the system and incorporate time to live (TTL), piggybacking, and pre-fetching mechanisms for consistency. Every data item is authorized with a corresponding TTL value within which the corresponding data item must reach the destination node. And upon expiration, a call is sent to the data source to revive them. The entire system is validated by means of simulations and upon implementing such a technique, it is seen that the traffic per node is drastically reduced as the packet size increases. The results clearly narrates that, compared with other conventional routing protocols, this mechanism reduces the path discovery overhead, delay and the traffic during transmission by a great margin.
