Abstract

AbstractInfection is a recognized complication of surgical extractions. However, with incorrect technique and use of inappropriate dental equipment, the chance of post‐operative complications increases. This is a case report that describes the extensive spread of infection to the skull base after a surgical extraction of a lower right wisdom tooth. The improper use of the high‐speed air turbine hand piece was likely to have contributed to the progression and extent of the life‐threatening infection.
