Abstract
The current study examines factors and strategies for developing sport industry in Chinese small towns. Through conducting the extensive literature review, expert interviews, and survey, the results emerged from the analytic hierarchy process indicate several important determinants for developing the sport industry in Chines small towns. The findings indicate the importance of understanding 20 factors (e.g., geographical location, natural resources) when making regional strategies for the sport industry development in small towns in China. The strategies have important practical implications for various government administrators and practitioners in Chinese small towns in promoting the sport industry.
