Abstract

A 38-year-old Japanese male who had a left orchiectomy and telecobalt therapy for seminoma 4 years ago showed a recurrence of the tumor in the spermatic cord of the left inguinal region and multiple pulmonary metastases. The inguinal mass was removed surgically, and a total dose of 4200 rad of telecobalt irradiation was given over the left inguinal area. Histology revealed a seminoma with a few embryonal components. The pulmonary metastases disappeared on roentgenographic examinations by the 2nd postoperative month without any direct treatment to them. The immunologic aspect of this clinical observation is briefly discussed.
