Abstract

Spontaneous fracture of the maxillary sinus without preceding trauma or pathology is extremely rare. Our patient presented with a maxillary sinus fracture related to recurrent nose-blowing, in the absence of any other cause. Although rare, spontaneous fracture of maxillary sinus should be considered in the differential diagnosis of pain and swelling of the cheek and eye in elderly patients.
