Abstract

Esophageal variceal (EV) bleeding is a serious complication in patients with Child-Pugh C cirrhosis,1 with high mortality and recurrent bleeding rates.2 Coagulation disorders lead to poor results of endoscopic sclerotherapy and band ligation.3,4 Although controversial, the injection of N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (Histoacryl; B. Braun, Melsungen, Germany) has been successfully used for variceal bleeding management.4 We report a patient with a Child-Pugh C cirrhosis and with splenic infarction from splenic artery embolization after endoscopic injection of a mixture of Histoacryl and Lipiodol (Guerbet, Chambray Lês Tours, France).
