Although the contributors are of national and international reputation, 12 of the 35 authors are from the New York University–Bellevue Medical Center, which enhances the uniformity of style and presentation. The text is illustrated with detailed line drawings that clearly depict the dynamic forces and mechanisms of spinal injury. The first section, three chapters, covers the historical perspectives and the diagnostic imaging of spinal trauma. The principles of plain film X-ray and computed tomography interpretation are supported with images of excellent quality, which are clearly labeled.
