Abstract

Subtractive-type algorithms are effective in reducing background noise, but always produce musical noise. An algorithm based on an audible noise spectrum is proposed and tested using various noise types and levels. The performance evaluation shows that the residual noise is significantly removed and it renders better quality than those without masking.
