Abstract

Nd3+ doped lead free zinc phosphate glasses have been prepared by melt quenching technique. The functional groups have been assigned and clearly elucidated by FTIR spectra for all these glass samples. J-O parameters have been obtained from the spectral intensities of different absorption bands of Nd3+ ions. The radiative properties such as AR, τR, βR and Σ for different excited states are calculated by using J-O parameters. NIR luminescence spectra exhibit three emission bands for all the concentrations of Nd3+ ions. These glasses can be suggested as suitable host to produce efficient lasing action in NIR region at 1.05 μm.
