Abstract

An experiment is proposed to study the neutron detection depth profile—resulting from the cumulative effect of the gas absorption depth profile and signal detection efficiency—of position-sensitive multiwire proportional counter detectors. The effect of the drift voltage level on the detection efficiency is investigated and a method is proposed to adjust the drift voltage of new detectors to ensure appropriate spectral accuracy.
