  • The proper use of thermal energy storage (TES) systems can facilitate the effective exploitation of renewable energies, allowing the mismatch between energy production and demand for discontinuous energy sources and/or variable loads to be overcome

  • The thermochemical technology is based on a reversible reaction occurring between two components, and it is associated with higher amounts of energy stored with respect to systems based on sensible heat [4]

Summary

Introduction

Publisher’s Note: MDPI stays neutral with regard to jurisdictional claims in published maps and institutional affiliations. The proper use of TES systems can facilitate the effective exploitation of renewable energies, allowing the mismatch between energy production and demand for discontinuous energy sources and/or variable loads to be overcome. Special classes of TES systems, based on sorption or chemical reactions, can enable the long-term storage of renewable heat.
