The History and Enlightenment ofthe World Marine Geological Survey
  • Jun 30, 2020
  • Xuwen Qin + 15 more

The major historical events not only impact the global pattern in society, politics and economy, but also exsert profound effect over science and technology. Based on researches about the development of theories and technoloy in marine geology during and after the major historical events, such as the past four technological revolutions and World War Ⅰ and Ⅱ, we first divided the development history of the world marine geological survey into 5 periods (emergence period, initial period, development period, mature period and upgrade period). We reviewed the objectives, characteristics and main achievements in the field of marine geological surveys in different periods in the history. Then, we summarized the law of development in world marine geological survey and discussed about the enlightenment. In the end, we put forward our suggestions on the development of China's marine geology in light of its current scientific, political and economic situation.

Avifauna during Spring Migration on Taira-jima Island, Tokara Islands

  • Japanese Journal of Ornithology
  • Noritomo Kawaji + 2 more

Spring bird migration was investigated on Taira-jima Island (29°41′N, 129°32′E), Tokara Islands, Kagoshima Prefecture, from 1982 to 1987. Twenty nine families and 122 species were recorded in total and 66 birds with 30 species were ringed and released, including such unusual species as Muscicapa ferruginea, Turdus hortulorum, and Ficedula zanthopygia. Most species seemed to use this island on the way of the northward migration through the Ryukyu and Amami Islands. But several species, such as Erithacus cyane, Phylloscopus occipitalis, Regulus regulus, and Cyanoptilla cyanomelana are rare or unrecorded on the Ryukyus and Taiwan, suggesting a direct migratory course from south-eastern China to Kyushu.

The deep-sea mobile platform system represents a new-generation universal deep-sea cable-controlled integrated geological survey equipment independently developed by the Qingdao Institute of Marine Geology. This system meets diverse marine geological survey requirements, including seabed core drilling, high-precision geological sampling, precise deployment of seabed equipment, and in-situ detection near the seabed. It integrates multiple functions such as visual control, precise sampling, accurate deployment, seabed salvage, and multiparameter in-situ detection. Compared with traditional deep-sea remotely operated vehicles, it offers important advantages, including compact size, lightweight design, low requirements for carrying vessels, and flexible operation. The system has a maximum operating depth of 6000 m, which makes it suitable for various applications, such as seabed resource exploration, marine environmental investigation, and research on marine geological scientific issues. This article offers a comprehensive introduction to the overall design, key technologies, and main functions of this equipment, demonstrates its excellent performance in practical applications, and proposes specific optimization directions for future intelligent upgrades.

The research aims to explore and analyze the impact of Human Resource Management Information Systems and Transformational Leadership on Employee Performance at the Marine Geological Survey and Mapping Agency in Bandung. The study employs descriptive and associative research methods. The population comprises Civil Servants working at the Marine Geological Survey and Mapping Agency in Bandung, with a saturated sample of 89 individuals. Data collection involves distributing primary data through questionnaires and utilizing secondary data. The data analysis employs multiple linear regression analysis. The independent variables are HRMIS and Transformational Leadership, while the dependent variable is Employee Performance at the Marine Geological Survey and Mapping Agency in Bandung, West Java. The research instruments underwent validity, reliability, normality, multicollinearity, autocorrelation, and heteroscedasticity tests. Empirical findings indicate that Transformational Leadership significantly influences Employee Performance at the Marine Geological Survey and Mapping Agency in Bandung. The study suggests that leaders at the agency should consider employee perceptions to enhance overall performance through optimized HRMIS implementation. Additionally, leaders should adopt transformational leadership styles to effectively communicate policy changes from central authorities to employees.
