Abstract
IN GENERAL there are a lot of problems with the education of children with disabilities in Yugoslavia, but there is also a great interest by these students, their parents, humanitarian organizations and scientific institutions in solving their problems. Taking this point into consideration, the help of the international community would be of particular importance. That was the reason when priority was given in this paper to the problems we are encountering, in order to use the exchange of experience for finding out the most effective solutions and for advancement of the whole state of affairs in the field. This paper consists of brief description of the education system in Yugoslavia, health and welfare services for children with disabilities, the nature and organization of special education services, notes about the integration of disabled children in ordinary schools, models of training of special educators and a brief review of our problems and successes.
