Abstract

Industrial pollution closely related to human health is a growing global problem. Most studies have examined whether technological innovation contributes to increased environmental performance, without detailed investigation of the effects of renewable energy technology innovation (RETI) on industrial pollution. Using the Geographically Temporally Weighted Regression (GTWR), this study explores how RETI affects industrial pollution from a spatial heterogeneity perspective. The results show that, first, industrial pollution in one area was related to the industrial pollution in adjacent areas. Second, RETI would contribute to cleaner industrial production. Third, the influence of RETI on industrial pollutant varied from province to province in China. Based on these results, some suggestions for controlling industrial pollution were put forward.
