Abstract

Viscosity and electrochemical properties of chitosan hydrochloride were studied in a wide range of polymer concentration. Conditions were described of obtaining this polymer salt with reproducible properties. Based on results of measuring conductivity the polymer examined may be regarded as a polyelectrolyte of average strength. The effect of thermodynamic properties of solvents on polymer viscosity was investigated. It was found that the solutions studied show a dual behaviour by the action of urea in various concentration ranges of this polymer.
