Abstract

Numerous natural and social phenomena are constantly being observed, surveyed, registered and analyzed in the light of man's actions and influence on their course. It is obvious that permanent and periodical satellite observations and registrations conducted for various purposes are unavoidable nowadays. The paper deals with more important satellite programmes of the systematical survey of the Earth, which mutually differ according to the height of their orbit, their cruising speed, equipment they are equipped with, sensors in particular, as well as the type and quality of their images of the Earth. .
