Abstract

INTEREST in polymerization of dioxolane (DO) has markedly grown in recent years. Several catalysts and solvents have been considered for polymerization of DO [1-3], certain kinetic relations of the process [5, 6], polydioxolane (PDO) structure and the thermodynamics of formation were studied [4]. However, no data are available in existing papers on the dependence on temperature of the polymerization coefficient of PDO in equilibrium polymerization of DO. The authors found it of interest to study the effect of temperature both on the position of the system equilibrium and on the molecular weight of PD0 during polymerization. DO was polymerized in bulk under the action of BF 3 etherate. EXPERIMENTAL
