Abstract

Yabase Oil field is located in Akita City of Akita Prefecture at the Northwestern part of Honshu Island. The oil field is divided into the several districts, and the depths of the reservoirs, with about 12 pay zones, range from 200 meters to 1, 900 meters. Natural gas-storage operations were first attempted in 1959-1963 on experimental basis at the 300 meters pay zone of Hamada District in this oil fields by Teikoku Oil Co., Ltd. This zone is gas reservoir of free gas type, and composes a typical anticline structure. This paper presents some of the data obtained in the experiments, and the results of this study based on the data.Back pressure curves could not be represented by a single line, because of the water flow in the reservoir. The relation between injected gas volume and time was calculated from pressure-time history, mathematically, using the production data during earlier 6 months and the results were compared with the field data. However poor agreement was examined owing to the lack of appropriate pressure data.
