Abstract

Samples collected in Iceland and the Orkneys have been examined for their desmid floras. Both sets of samples revealed a mixed but in the main, rather common assortment of taxa, although some represent new records for both areas, so the knowledge of the desmid flora of these islands has been considerably increased by the present investigations. Some comments are also made about desmid records from the Faeroe Islands.
