Abstract

Some Sum-Over-States shielding calculations for a number of carbon and nitrogen environments are reported. The CNDO/S parameterised calculations in which only one-centre integrals are included yield rather poor agreement with the experimental results. The inclusion of paramagnetic shielding contributions arising from two-centre integrals produces a significant improvement in the relationship between the calculated and observed nuclear shielding data.
