Abstract
The paper deals with some case histories of the interpretation of magnetic and gravity anomalies by means of two- and three-dimensional models. The interpretations were carried out by employing a combination of plate and prism models, with an electronic calculator and a computer for which interpretation programs were written. Attempts were made to delineate the boundaries of the outcrops of the anomalous formations and their dips as well as to estimate the variation in the values of the petrophysical parameters within the survey area. The densities and susceptibilities obtained through interpretation were compared to those measured on the drill cores in the laboratory. The influence of the remanent magnetization was taken into account in most of the magnetic interpretations. The interpretation results have been used effectively in the planning of drilling and in the drawing of geological maps in combination with the tectonic observations on the exposures.
