Abstract

Analytical solutions of the steady state, three-dimensional atmospheric diffusion equation for sulfur dioxide and sulfate dispersion from point sources are presented. First-order transformation of SO 2 to sulfate and wet and dry deposition of both SO 2 and sulfate are included. The solutions permit prediction of the three-dimensional concentration distributions of SO 2 and sulfate downwind of a continuous, elevated point source of SO 2, with or without an elevated inversion layer present.
