Abstract

In meeting current electricity needs, renewable energy resources are needed whose availability is unlimited. One of the renewable energy sources is the sun which is used as an energy source through solar panels. The main problem with the use of solar panels is their low efficiency. This paper presents the mathematical modeling and simulation of Microgrid systems with a focus on PV arrays and storage systems. Modeling and simulation of solar panels and Lithium-Ion battery systems using their equivalent circuit modeling. Simulation is integrated with all the individual components of the Microgrid modeled in MATLAB/Simulink. The main principle of this method is to adjust the output voltage of the solar panel using the Maximum Power Point (MPPT) technique to obtain maximum power. The solar panel output voltage regulation is done using a buck-boost converter, with maximum power of solar panels can be generated using a duty cycle of 80%.
