Abstract
This study is dedicated to the performance analysis of solar updraft tower power plants with heat storage system. Adrar site which is located at the south western region of Algeria is used as an implementation station. The performance determination of the solar chimney power plants is occurred starting from a mathematical model. The model is validated by experimental and theoretical results from the literature review and used as a predictive tool. The influence of the meteorological conditions (solar radiation and ambient temperature), the geometrical parameters of the solar chimney power plant (collector radius, chimney height), the thickness of the storage system and the wind velocity on the generated electric power is analyzed. These results lead to the better understanding of the influence of these parameters on the solar updraft tower power plants operating system. The present work is considered as a preliminary study for solar updraft tower power plants setting up project in the region of Adrar.
