Abstract

Biological activity in the soil was investigated in three Negev plant communities with a view to evaluating the controlling environmental factors. Specific features of group composition and dynamic behavior in microbial populations were investigated. Among environmental factors, the most important role is played by soil moisture, but it is effective only if organic matter is available.
