Abstract

Object-Oriented Petri Nets (OOPN) has graphical and formal characteristics, and its object-oriented characteristic facilitates users' understanding of the model. This article compares the similarity of the net structure of OOPN and the basic elements of software process, and then maps the basic elements of software process to OOPN net elements correspondingly. According to this mapping, this article proposes a software process modeling method based on OOPN, which can supply a multi-view from the activity, product, and role for a software process. We use our existing OOPN modeling tool (OOPN-IDE) to model the Requirement Management Process, and prove the feasibility and validity of this modeling method. In addition, owing to the inheritance of OOPN, we can easily realize the reuse of software process models, and consequently speed up the modeling.
