Abstract

World production of soft ferrites is increasing and the development problems are not declining. At the same time it seems that there is some recession in the manufacture and application of ferrite cores. These facts, however, can be reconciled. For this purpose, general needs and possibilities of improvements of common modern ferrites are discussed and some physical and technological problems are analyzed. The questions of lowering the costs of raw materials and fabrication processes are also taken into consideration. In conclusion, it is deduced that soft magnetic ferrites have reached a state of stabilization. They remain a force in all cases where high-frequency magnetic components are needed. Their role will diminish only in such branches of electronics in which general technical problems are solved by quite new methods (digital techniques, etc.).
