Abstract

This text is an attempt to show the influence of socialization as a mechanism for shaping a child’s identity. This goal is achieved through the analysis of the following problems: the sense of human identity; multi-faceted definition of socialization as a mechanism for shaping a child’s identity; the essence and content of socialization in pedagogical anthropology; basic institutions of socialization; types of socialization. Socialization is a complex process, it is a process of changes and development during a person’s life, resulting from their upbringing and teaching. The presented analysis of the above-mentioned problems allows, to a large extent, to define the problems of human identity and interpersonal communication, which has always been the subject of reflection throughout the history of pedagogical anthropology. Currently, this problem is becoming one of the most significant, which is associated with the need to overcome the tendency for expropriation of the individual in modern society, in which one loses the true sense of one’s own existence and increasingly begins to be considered in the aspect of purposeful rational action, performing a specific social function. In this situation, pedagogical anthropology points to the fact that socialization is an indispensable component of civilization, points to how socialization adapts each subsequent generation to social expectations, how it ensures the continuity of cultural tradition, and how it teaches and prepares for participation in social life.
