Summary
It has become increasingly essential to evaluate community participation in infrastructure provision in developing countries. This study focuses on identifying the factors that influence the level and extent of community participation in the provision of infrastructure in Akure, Nigeria. This research showed how socioeconomic characteristics determine community participation in infrastructure provision in a developing country context This will provide a basis to argue for involving communities in infrastructure planning and implementations by government agencies and policy makers where necessary. In this study, marital status, stage of participation in housing development, and sources of finance are considered along with these socioeconomic variables due to their potential to influence community participation This is because, it is necessary to determine whether these factors could determine the level of community participation in infrastructure provision as well. This is because, according to George and Mallery (2003), no revision is required for the questionnaire if the value is 0.7 and above
