Abstract
Sociobiologists observe entire society as an aggregate of individual genes. They assume the existence of universal human traits which are coded in genes, i.e. inherited. As genes on one level determine individuals, thus, on another level, individuals determine the society, which indicates the society is conditioned by genes, bearing controversial implications. In this paper the accusations that sociobiology has a fuction of justification for genetic determinism will be considered, including when sociobiologists speak about the ?gene for? a certain behaviour. Also, methodological problems of heritability research, as well as the accusations that sociobiologists easily reduce complex human behaviour to the level of genes which determine such behaviour will be examinated.
