Social Responsibility of Organizational Management is the responsibility of every manager. Because, Organ- izational Social Responsibility (OSR) functions as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards, and international norms. An approach for OSR that is becoming more widely accepted is a community-based development approach. In Organizational Social Responsibility Approach (OSRA), corporations work with local communities to better themselves. In addition, Managerial Social Respon- sibility (MSR) is the responsibility of every manager for his/her actions. It is morally binding on everyone to act in such a way that the people immediately around them are not adversely affected. For this reason, Organizational Social Responsibility Policy (OSRP) functions as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism.

EXPRESSION OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN SPORTS ORGANIZATION
  • Jan 1, 2022
  • HUMANITIES STUDIES
  • Kristina Antanaityte

With the rapid expansion of the sports sector, the expression of social responsibility in various business structures is also high. Although social responsibility factors are increasingly being applied in Western organizations, this is not yet the case in Lithuania and in companies. (Gižienė, Palekienė, Simanavičienė2011). The economically growing sports sector is becoming attractive not only to the public sector, which is pursuing national goals, but also to private business structures that see the potential for economic benefits from certain sports. In this way, leaders of sports organizations can use social responsibility initiatives as a tool to enable their organization to improve their strategic and financial position (Smith, Westerbeek, 2007). It is observed in the literature that not only the governing bodies but also the employees occupying another hierarchical position have an influence as a socially responsible organization (Sheth, Babiak, 2010). For organizations that want to succeed, the priority must be not only the financial situation, shareholders, sponsors, etc., but also the community, non-governmental organizations, because business must interact with its environment in order to be successful. (Juščius, Griauslytė, 2014). In order to be a socially responsible sports organization, it is necessary to understand in which areas of social responsibility the expression of the members belonging to the organization is most important. The question is: how do people, executives and athletes in sports organizations view the level of corporate social responsibility and what are their social responsibility priorities? The aim of the research: Determine the level of expression of social responsibility in terms of managers, athletes and employees. Objectives of the research: discuss the components of social responsibility in organizations; o analyze the theoretical aspects of the expression of social responsibility of organizations in sports organizations; to conduct a comparative analysis of the opinion of sports organization managers, employees and athletes on the level of expression of social responsibility in a sports organization. Research methods: Analysis of scientific literature sources, Quantitative study – Questionnaire. The questionnaire was based on an analysis of the scientific literature and studies by Smith and Westerbeek (2007), Camilleri, (2015), Zhou, Wang and Zhao (2020) et al. Results. Factors promoting CSR According to the leaders of the organization, improved financial results of the organization, increased attractiveness of the organization to sponsors, greater employee loyalty and a better work atmosphere, athletes believe that CSR is most promoted by increased attractiveness of the organization to sponsors. In the segment of employees and athletes, respondents do not care what ecological or non-ecological technologies their organization uses and, in their opinion, environmental sustainability is not important to the organization. In the leadership segment, CSR has been found to be beneficial for the conservation of environmental resources, and eco-education is seen as a beneficial activity. The difference of opinion on the expression of social responsibility shows that the integration of social responsibility into the policy and strategy of sports organizations needs to be coordinated more effectively, as members of the sports organization community have different perceptions of social responsibility towards society, customers and environmental responsibility.

An Introduction to Responsible Management: A Corporate Social Responsibility, Green Marketing, and Sustainability Management Perspective
  • Jan 1, 2021
  • Eric Kwame Adae + 5 more

There are rising calls for the adoption of responsible management practices in virtually every economic sector of both developed and developing economies. Among others, efforts to promote responsible management have been championed by governments, international organisations, academic institutions, and industry regulators. In developing economies, such moves have spawned numerous success stories across diverse sectors such as energy, mining, manufacturing, and agriculture. Despite these glowing achievements, a plethora of challenges persist that threaten the sustainable development agenda. Against this backdrop, we address some crucial pathways for the sustainability logic and responsible management philosophy, as exemplified by contemporary practices across various sectors within the emerging markets context. We conceptualised responsible management as built on three pillars and examine the contribution of this triad of cognate concepts and practices: corporate social responsibility, green business, and sustainable management. We argue that social responsibility is pivotal to responsible management since it is imperative for corporations to consider the interests of multiple stakeholders, including employees, the society, the environment, future generations, and not only the interests of companies and investors. Akin to corporate social responsibility are sustainable management practices. We applaud current sustainability transitions concerning initiatives by businesses to drive meaningful and rewarding sustainability action. However, considering the upsurge of irresponsible and unsustainable business practices that harm the biosphere, needlessly kill wildlife, deplete natural resources, and destroy vegetation, the chapter explicates some specific ways in which businesses in emerging markets can drive green business initiatives from thought to finish, as expressed through green sourcing, green processing, green production, and green consumption practices. We also make recommendations regarding how governments, policymakers, and managers can support and embed the responsible management agenda in emerging markets. The chapter recommends that organisations must reimagine present-day sustainability actions by adopting innovative and sustainable initiatives such as reducing consumption, recycling, remanufacturing, reusing resources, and employing cutting-edge technology to monitor business processes across the entire value-chain from manufacturing to the end-user. At the micro level, we advocate that firm managers, entrepreneurs, and individuals must propel efforts in adopting responsible management practices. Finally, this chapter introduces the multisectoral chapters contained in the pages of this book, outline contributions to theory, and discuss practical managerial and policy implications.

  • Yang Lv + 4 more

China is determined to accomplish universal preschool education by asking the kindergartens to participate in social responsibility programs. This study intends to assess the level of participation of inclusive kindergartens in social responsibility programs. This study uses the Delphi expert method, integrated ISO26000 International Standard Guidelines for Social Responsibility, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Scale, and the characteristics of the preschool education industry to construct a social responsibility evaluation model for inclusive kindergartens. It includes five dimensions (responsibility management, customer responsibility, employee responsibility, social service, and organizational responsibility) to show the social responsibility status of kindergartens. Data was collected from 832 respondents from 27 provinces, cities, and regions in China. This study reveals that the overall performance of social responsibility of inclusive kindergarten (3.67) is better, while organization responsibility (3.91) shows the highest performance. In comparison, customer (3.63) and staff responsibility (3.63) deliver average performance, and responsibility management (3.56) offers lower performance. The statistical analysis shows that the nature of kindergartens, whether inclusive or not, the number of classes, years of establishment, the distribution area, and performance are different. Kindergartens should have certain social values, including specific behaviors and participating in social activities in the spirit of social service. They should ensure preschool teacher's professional and vocational development through multiple subjects' synergetic governance. In addition to fulfilling the teachers' social responsibility and professional development, the findings can put forward the cooperation with the government, social organizations, and kindergartens to improve teachers' professional quality and social responsibility.

  • Mir Sajjad Seyyed Mousavi + 4 more

Background: The provision of health services by medical universities is a crucial responsibility, and the organizational socialization status of employees plays a significant role in fulfilling this responsibility. However, there is a lack of sufficient evidence examining this relationship within medical universities. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the correlation between organizational socialization and social responsibility among staff members at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in 2023. The study population comprised staff members of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Standard questionnaires on organizational socialization by Chao and social responsibility by Carol were utilized. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 22, with results presented through descriptive and inferential statistics at a significance level of 0.05. Results: Of the 140 distributed questionnaires, 129 were completed and returned, yielding a response rate of 92%. Findings indicated that the levels of organizational socialization (28.94 ± 16.12) and social responsibility (30.76 ± 9.03) among headquarters staff were below the desired levels. A significant relationship was observed between the total scores of organizational socialization and social responsibility (P < 0.001). Also, the results showed that with an increase of one unit in the overall organizational socialization score, the overall social responsibility score increased by 0.419. Conclusions: This finding suggests that attention to organizational socialization can facilitate the improvement and increased social responsibility of employees. University managers can include necessary programs to enhance these components in their agenda to have employees with higher organizational commitment and greater satisfaction.

Corporate Governance and Organizational Social Responsibility: discussion about the Multilatinas case
  • Nov 5, 2021
  • Cuadernos de Administración
  • Carlos Tello-Castrillón

This paper explores the relationship between Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility (or Organizational Social Responsibility). To this end, the document is based on a case study about a Colombian long-tradition firm known as Organización Carvajal, which has extended its activity all over Latin America. The case study covers the period 2008-2015, between the arrival of a non-family CEO to the last year containing enough information about the subject at the research time. The relationship between the Corporate Governance and the Organizational Social Responsibility is studied based on a model that considers the interest of the majority-owners-block-family and CEO about the firm outlays for the Organizational Social Responsibility. The presentation is built as follows: first, central issues of the disciplinary context are shown. They are centered on placing the Corporate Governance-Organizational Social Responsibility relationship in Multilatinas among the organizational discussion. Second, the literature review explains the conceptual frame to visualize both the relationship mentioned above and the fieldwork. This part sets the theoretical model used as a referent. Finally, the case is described, discussed and the conclusions incorporated. The findings suggest that the CEO – owner agency problem in this Multilatina is not significant enough to become the main reason to alter the relationship between Corporate Governance and Organizational Social Responsibility.

Social and environmental commitments in the voluntary sector: a study of organizational social responsibility in French nonprofit organizations
  • Jun 13, 2025
  • Society and Business Review
  • Guillaume Plaisance

Purpose Corporate social responsibility is now extending to nonprofit organizations (NPOs) and becoming organizational social responsibility (OSR). Complementary visions are also emerging, particularly around the pyramid of nonprofit responsibilities. However, this pyramid approach raises a number of questions: at what level is OSR located? Is it therefore disconnected from the mission? Is it inevitable to be financially comfortable to engage in OSR? This article aims to answer these questions. Design/methodology/approach This paper presents the findings of an analysis of data from 170 French NPOs that have elected to make their information publicly available. Findings A study of the case of French NPOs demonstrates that financial resources are not a prerequisite for social and environmental commitments and that the mission is more or less present in these commitments. This indicates that OSR can be developed beyond the financial considerations, particularly by linking it directly to the mission (core activity OSR). In addition, a complementary OSR could be developed (non-core activity OSR). Originality/value This study adds to the literature on the social responsibility of NPOs, thanks to the French case.

RETRACTED: Understanding social responsibility and relational pressures in nonprofit organisations
  • Jul 13, 2023
  • Human Relations
  • Fara Azmat + 3 more

Relational pressures across multiple levels push organisations to behave socially responsibly or sometimes irresponsibly. But how do relational pressures across multiple levels influence social responsibility of small nonprofit organisations working with marginalised groups? Nonprofit organisations are increasing in importance owing to their role in development and representation of marginalised groups’ interests, yet their social responsibility is little understood. Using the lens of standpoint theory, we explore social responsibility of small disability arts organisations in the nonprofit sector in Australia drawing on 53 interviews involving actors at multiple levels, supplemented by site visits and observations. We find small nonprofit organisations’ social responsibility in a state of flux, influenced by differing priorities, expectations, and demands from various actors across levels. We provide insights into organisational social responsibility dynamics, identifying three major tensions that small arts organisations face – formality versus informality, agency versus representation, and access versus excellence – in seeking to be socially responsible. Our findings have relevance for organisations in the wider nonprofit sector, underscoring the need to explore their social responsibility from a relational perspective. Further, the resultant tensions from relational pressures, as identified in our study, provide important implications for organisational social responsibility advancing theoretical and practical knowledge in this emerging field.
