Abstract

The status of social psychology in Poland is examined. The social and political context within which social psychology operates is described, with a summary of major research activities. Research in Poland covers a broad range of topics, including helping behavior, game theory, punishment, aggression, objective self-awareness, and scientific method. The intents of this paper are to increase professional contacts among social psychologists in Poland and in other countries and to com- pare social psychology in Poland to theoretical and social problems studied by social psychologists in North America.
