Abstract

This study aimed to identify the predictors of depression among female rotating-shift nurses. This secondary data analysis used data of 190 Korean female rotating-shift nurses from the parent study conducted in 2018. A multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the predictors of depression. Young age, poor sleep quality, and greater morning-shift social jetlag predicted depression among female nurses working a three-shift schedule. Nursing management should consider scheduling shifts to minimize nurses' social jetlag and develop interventions for improving sleep quality to prevent depression among female rotating-shift nurses.
