Understanding the adoption of cashless payments through e-wallets requires exploring various perspectives, especially from a health risk standpoint. Previous studies have not sufficiently addressed the role of hand hygiene awareness and its complex relationship with subjective norms (or social influence) and continuance intention. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the continuance intention in e-wallet usage, with a focus on the health perspective, specifically hand hygiene awareness. In this study, we collected data from 320 Touch 'n Go e-wallet users in Malaysia through an online survey and convenience sampling. We used Partial Least Squares (PLS) path modelling to test the research model. Our findings show that subjective norms positively influence both hand hygiene awareness and perceived usefulness. Moreover, hand hygiene awareness significantly affects both perceived usefulness and continuance intention to use e-wallets. Theoretically, these results extend existing technology acceptance literature by integrating a health-oriented perspective, particularly in relation to hand hygiene awareness. From a practical perspective, this study provides valuable insights for practitioners on how to promote hygiene behaviour within platform design to retain e-wallet users.

  • Ivan K W Lai + 1 more

With the rapid development of internet technologies, social networking e-learning has become increasingly popular that supports collaboration and sharing between students for them to solve daily learning problems. However, some students may not continually keep this practice due to some reasons. With the considering of expectation-value theory, this study tries to study students’ continuance intention toward social networking e-learning by extending the UTAUT model with a critical psychological factor “perceived value”. A Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis is used to analyze the data collected from 240 students in Macau. The results of this study indicate that perceived value is an important factor followed by social influence that influence the continuance intention toward social networking e-learning. This study contributes a research model for the study of technology acceptance continuance in educational contexts and provides recommendations for educators to formulate their strategies to motivate students for collaborative learning through social networking e-learning.

  • Wan Rasyidah Wan Nawang + 3 more

Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services have significantly reshaped payment behaviour among digitally engaged Generation Y and Generation Z consumers. Despite their rapid adoption, limited research has examined the behavioural, technological, and financial factors influencing consumers’ continuance intention to use BNPL services. This study investigates the influence of perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, social influence, financial literacy, attitude, and trust on continuance intention to use BNPL services, with attitude and trust examined as mediating variables. This quantitative study used a structured online survey distributed to respondents chosen via convenience sampling. A total of 219 valid responses were received from the Generation Y and Generation Z respondents. The data were then analysed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) to determine the direct and indirect relationships. Perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness were found to significantly improve trust, which subsequently drives continuance intention. Financial literacy and social influence also showed a significant effect in strengthening attitudes toward BNPL services, which in turn significantly influence continuance intention. Trust and attitude were also found to significantly mediate the relationships between the antecedent variables and continuance intention. Based on the findings, continuance intention toward BNPL services is driven by both cognitive and relational factors, indicating the need to improve users’ financial capability, technological perceptions, positive attitudes, and trust to maintain their engagement over the long run.

  • Amir Ashrafi + 3 more

In the last decades, universities and higher education institutes have widely employed a learning management system (LMS) to monitor and manage electronic learning and teaching. Contrary to the significant role of LMS in educational settings, most research has focused on initial acceptance, and few attempts have been made to investigate factors influencing students’ continuance intention to use LMS. The present study is an effort towards this research direction by proposing an integrated model of expectation-conformation model (ECM), technology acceptance model (TAM), social influence (subjective norm), and perceived enjoyment (hedonic value). The proposed model is tested using statistical data from 153 university students from Mehralborz University (MAU), Tehran, Iran. To verify the proposed theoretical model, we ran partial least squares (PLS)/ structured equation modeling (SEM). The findings of this study reveal that the perceived usefulness is the strongest predictor of students’ continuance intention. Surprisingly, our results also indicate that students’ attitudes toward LMS and their satisfaction level exert no significant influence on continuance intention. The implications of this study and its limitations are also discussed.

Factors that determine the continuance intention of people to use online social networks for business transactions
  • Jan 15, 2015
  • Akwesi Assensoh-Kodua

Social computing researchers are devoting efforts to understand the complex social behaviour of people using social networking platforms, such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, so as to inform the design of human-centered and socially aware systems. This research study investigates the factors of perceived trust, user satisfaction, social norm and perceived behavioural control, to develop a model for predicting the continuance intention of people to use online social networking for business transactions. In order to validate the predictive capability of the model developed, an online survey was used to collect 300 useable responses from people who have used LinkedIn and Twitter social networking platforms for business transactions at least once. The Partial Least Square (PLS) mathematical analysis tool was thereafter used to perform confirmatory factor analysis, analysis of measurement and structural models. The study results provide significant evidence in support of the factors of perceived trust, social norm and user satisfaction, as determinants of the continuance intention of people using online social networking platforms for business transactions. Perceived trust was found to exhibit a strong relationship with social norm and explains a variance of (R2=0.47). In addition, social norm explains a variance of (R2=0.44) and user satisfaction explains a variance of (R2=0.42), resulting in the model predicting (R2=0.56) continuance intention. In addition, the research model was tested for the moderating effects of usage habit, which were found to significantly moderate relationships between continuance intention and perceived trust, PBCand social norm, resulting in an improved predictive capability of (R2=0.89). The moderating result indicates that a higher level of habit increases the effect of perceived trust, Perceived Behavioural Control (PBC) and social norm on continuance intention. This result confirms the theoretical argument that the strength of user satisfaction to predict continuance, is strengthened by usage habit. The results of this research study generally have practical implications for individuals who desire to offer commercial services on online social networking technologies, to seriously consider building trust and maintaining user satisfaction to sustain their businesses. They should also think of strategies embedded in peer pressure, to attract, retain and establish trustworthy relationships with customers.

  • Zhiwen Li + 3 more

The purpose of this paper is to explore how social influence (SI), which is disaggregated into subjective norms (SN), social image (SIM), and social identity (SID), predicts perceived usefulness (PU), perceived pleasure (PP), and continuance intention (CI) toward sports and fitness applications. The underlying context is the socialization and gamification of exercise during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on the theory of SI and the technology acceptance model, a theoretical framework was built where PU and PP mediate the influence of SI on CI, and proposed hypotheses were tested. The responses of 296 Keep users (a popular sports and fitness application in China) to a questionnaire survey were analyzed. SN and SIM were found to have significant positive effects on SID; SID has significant positive effects on PU and PP; both PU and PP have significant positive effects on the CI of users; SID and PU positively and significantly mediate the relationship between SN/SIM and CI; PU positively and significantly mediates the SID-CI relationship. However, the role of PP in mediating the influence of SI on CI is non-significant. This paper deepens the current understanding of the mechanisms that influence the relationship between SI and CI under the context of socialization and gamification services.

  • Oct 6, 2013
  • Thominathan Santhanamery + 1 more

Continuance intention is defined as ones intention to continue using a technology or long term usage intention of a technology. Although initial acceptance is important in identifying the success of an information system but continued usage is even more significant in ensuring the long-term viability of technology innovations and also to enhance the financial and quality performance of an organization. Unlike initial acceptance decision, continuance intention is important, depends on various factors that affect the individuals’ decision to continue using a particular system with one of the most important emotion that is the satisfaction. Therefore, this case study aims to examine the e-filing usage by taxpayers in Malaysia based on the Expectation Confirmation Model. The data were collected from 116 taxpayers in Penang, Malaysia using survey method. Data was analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS) method version 2.0. The result shows a significant relationship between the entire variable in the study. Perceived usefulness and satisfaction were found to be significantly related to the continuance usage intention, explaining 54.2 % of the variance in continuance usage intention. Surprisingly, perceived usefulness was found to be the strongest predictor of continuance usage intention. The implications of these findings to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia are also elaborated.

Analysing The Influential Factors on the Purchase Behaviour of Organic Foods
  • Jan 8, 2025
  • INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MULTIDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS
  • Saiful Islam + 2 more

Organic food products have gained significant traction globally due to their perceived health benefits and environmental sustainability. The organic food market is emerging, driven by increasing consumer awareness and demand. This study examines the influential factors shaping consumer behavior towards organic foods in Bangladesh, focusing on the roles of attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and purchase intention. The research collected 640 valid responses using an online survey and convenience sampling during August 2023 and May 2024. Data were analysed using SMART PLS which facilitated the testing of direct effects and relationships among the variables. The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) was used in this research paper and an extension was made in the framework by working with 7 different factors. The findings reveal significant relationships: positive attitudes towards organic foods significantly enhance purchase intentions, as does the influence of subjective norms, including peer and community endorsements. Furthermore, perceived behavioral control- including factors such as accessibility and affordability- plays a crucial role in shaping purchase intentions. Additionally, purchase intention was found to be a strong predictor of actual purchase behavior, underscoring its importance in the decision-making process. This research fills a critical gap in understanding the dynamics of organic food consumption in Bangladesh and provides valuable insights for marketers and policymakers. The study's findings suggest that a multi-faceted approach, addressing consumer awareness, social influence, and perceived control, is essential to driving the growth of the organic food market in Bangladesh.

  • Muhammad Abdullahi + 3 more

Abstract: The success of learning mathematics depends largely on students’ satisfaction in learning the subject. This, along with other factors such as perceived usefulness in learning mathematics, will eventually increase students’ intention to continue learning mathematics. This study integrated the Expectancy Confirmation Model (ECM) and perceived enjoyment, with the main purpose of developing a fitting structural model that investigates whether the ECM model can be extended and used in the context of mathematics students' learning continuance. The study used a correlational research design conducted on 12 tertiary colleges in the northwestern zone of Nigeria. Proportionate stratified random sampling technique was employed to select 366 Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) III mathematics combination students for this study out of a total population of 2761 NCE III mathematics students based on the Cochran formula. The findings indicate that the most significant factor affecting the college of education (COE) mathematics students' continuance intention is the belief of their perception of the usefulness of learning mathematics to their daily life activities. Satisfaction and perceived enjoyment in learning mathematics also positively influence students' intention to continue studying mathematics. The current research adds to the theory by replacing the ECM's confirmation of expectation construct with the construct of perceived enjoyment and introducing new associations to describe mathematics students' continued intention to learn mathematics.

  • Liang Rui + 3 more

Digital transformation is a crucial option for nightscape tour to balance high-quality experiences and sustainable development in the new era. Tourists’ satisfaction and continuance intention are essential to the development of digital nightscape tour, but related research is insufficient. For this reason, by using the Chinese digital nightscape tour as a case study, this research integrates the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) and the design dimensions (ambience, spatial layout, innovation, and cultural contact) to investigate the factors influencing tourists’ satisfaction and continuance intention. The research employed a convenience sampling method, selecting typical Chinese tourists who had experienced the digital nightscape tour as survey participants. A total of 650 responses were obtained. The results of Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) found that, firstly, UTAUT2, satisfaction, and ambience all directly predict continuance intention positively, with satisfaction having the strongest impact. Secondly, among the four variables of UTAUT2, social influence has the strongest impact on continuance intention. Thirdly, the design dimensions of the digital nightscape tour are very important, which indirectly affect continuance intention through satisfaction, with ambience having the greatest influence on continuance intention. The research conclusions help support the high-quality development of the digital nightscape tour.

  • Xiu Ming Loh + 2 more

PurposeThis study looks to understand the opposing forces that would influence continuance intention. This is significant as users will take into account the positive and negative use experiences in determining their continuance intention. Therefore, this study looks to highlight the opposing forces of users’ continuance intention by proposing the Expectation-Confirmation-Resistance Model (ECRM).Design/methodology/approachThrough an online survey, 411 responses were obtained from mobile payment users. Subsequently, a hybrid approach comprised of the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was utilized to analyze the data.FindingsThe results revealed that all hypotheses proposed in the ECRM are supported. More precisely, the facilitating and inhibiting variables were found to significantly affect continuance intention. In addition, the ECRM was revealed to possess superior explanatory power over the original model in predicting continuance intention.Originality/valueThis study successfully developed and validated the ECRM which captures both facilitators and inhibitors of continuance intention. Besides, the relevance and significance of users’ innovative resistance to continuance intention have been highlighted. Following this, effective business and research strategies can be developed by taking into account the opposing forces that affect users’ continuance intention.
