Abstract

This article explores the concept of social inclusion as a noble and possible outcome for successful psychiatric rehabilitation for persons living with mental illness. The related community-based supports in Singapore are also described to aid readers in identifying the full spectrum of various models and different services available that can promote reintegration of mentally ill patients back into their community. We have also highlighted some key areas for growth and improvement for modern psychiatry in Singapore as it progresses towards being increasingly community based and socially inclusive.
