This research was undertaken through the field of teaching and learning. It identified students' cultural, social, motivational and communication characteristics, which intertwined, and assisted or hindered adult East Asian students learning in Australian classrooms. A questionnaire (Stage 1) was distributed to students in three sectors within the Australian educational post-school system: universities, public technical and further education (TAFE) sector, and the private TAFE sector. Stage 2 identified further issues and explanations of characteristics of these students, through interviews with teachers and students and observations in four selected classes. The conclusions from this research have been able to identify and describe classroom contexts; motivational, cultural, communication, and social characteristics; and broad teaching and learning approaches of the targeted students. Subsequently, recommendations for teachers, students and organisations have been developed, and when implemented can result in a productive and harmonious learning environment for these students in Australian/Western classrooms.

This paper proposes methodological aspects of evaluation of organization efficiency of personnel management and motivation on the bases of application of economic and mathematical tools by implementing a three-component algorithmic model. The structural divisions heads’ work effectiveness evaluation is carried out on the basis of econometric systems of structural equations that allow you to rank personality, communicative, innovative, social and corporate managers characteristics that have the greatest impact on the overall performance indicators of the bank staff among which are considered amount of attracted funds; assessment of employee's compliance with the standard; activity efficiency (number of contracts); contribution to development. The obtained modeling results confirm the hypothesis that structural unit managers need to work on the development of their communicative, innovative, personal and social characteristics. Models for analyzing the personnel motivation factors on the bases of the methodology of multivariate statistical factor analysis with initial list of 13 main indicators of staff motivation are proposed; as a result, we set up the aggregated factors that reflect the properties of several motivational components such as financial, social incentives and medical insurance for employees. The model for estimating influence of motivation factors on results of bank's activity on the bases of nonlinear econometric functions is constructed. The regression equation of the motivation factors influence on the bank total profit is obtained. The proposed model toolkit for evaluation of efficiency of management and staff motivation will allow the bank's management to improve motivation and incentives mechanisms in order to raise efficiency of stuff productivity in direction of increasing bank profitability and competitiveness.

The article deals with identifying and describing social and communicative characteristics of a translation association website as a genre of translators’ professional discourse. The relevance of the paper is due to the steadily growing translation market at the global level, which makes high demands on its participants, translators and their professional competences. It is determined that the content of websites of national translation associations is one of the sources of industry-specific specialised information. The content of websites of translation national associations in Great Britain, Russia and France is used as the material for the study. The paper uses the following methods: discourse analysis to identify the categories of translators’ professional discourse; the descriptive method to analytically describe institutional and personal components of the discourse under consideration; content analysis to determine general tendency of using social and communicative characteristics. The principles of identifying social and communicative characteristics of professional discourse on the basis of its hybrid nature are defined. It is established that it is useful to identify the characteristics of translators’ professional discourse as a primary institutional formation by the following parameters: participants, goal, objectives, strategies, tactics, chronotope, themes. As a result of the conducted research it was established: social and communicative characteristics of the hyper-genre of a translation association website are optimisation and improvement of translation activity; expert professionals and ordinary users (vectors of communicative interaction “agent-agent”, “agent-client”); marking of an expert status of participants; existential and phatic social and communicative strategies involved in the implementation of two objectives of the analyzed discourse (they are analysis and solution of topical industry issues; self-presentation); polythematicity of normative, business, educational, applied, news and recruiting character; asynchronous chronotope; using of language play means (metaphors, colloquial style, precedent texts).

The article discusses the approaches of Russian and foreign researchers to the problems of difficult communication and psychological well-being of the personality. Harmonious interpersonal interaction, the absence of conflicts and various barriers in communication between partners is considered the most important determinant of a person's psychological well-being. The purpose of the work was to discover the relationship between the social and psychological characteristics of difficult communication and the components of the psychological well-being of students of psychological, pedagogical and humanitarian faculties using the methods “Social and psychological characteristics of communication” by V.A. Labunskaya, “Scale of psychological well-being” by K. Ryff adapted by T.D. Shevelenkova and P.P. Fesenko, as well as Spearman's rank correlation method. As a result of the empirical study, 10 correlations were established between the socio-psychological characteristics of difficult communication and the main components of students’ psychological well-being of the pedagogical university. The data obtained can be used by university teachers in the development of appropriate courses and methodological materials for work with students.

The designations “groups” and “communities” are examined as those given to associations of communicants on the Internet. The author states that the names of these associations have certain pragmatic tasks, since they are attracting the attention of Internet users and work on the expansion of groups. It is proved that the solution of such problems led to social semes in the names of unions. The author believes that the onomastic linguistic material (proper nouns) is also the part of social vocabulary. Social lexis refers to many words and expressions that serve as the designations of objects and phenomena of the life of society and a man because of his social characteristics - status, roles, etc. The relevance of the study is justified by the fact that there are no ideographic description of the social vocabulary in the Russian language and the concept of such a description. Analysis of the composition ofthe names of Internet communities allows to draw some conclusions regarding the features of group Internet communication. It is shown that the names of Internet communities are their hallmarks, that indicate the range of interests of participants of virtual communication in each group and the perception of social realities. The classification of categories depending on the method of education is given. It is concluded that many of the names include lexemes that characterize man from the standpoint of his social function.

Studying the similarities and differences in socio-communicative behavior between chimpanzees and bonobos is critical to increasing our understanding of the evolution of human sociality and communication. Both species rely heavily on the use of vocalizations during communicative interactions, although the form and function of these signals may vary between the two ape species. For example, bonobo vocalizations seem to be structurally more complex than those produced by chimpanzees, and calls seem to be directed to individuals not in immediate physical proximity. Both species, however, make use of communicative signals from different modalities concurrently, particularly vocalizations and manual gestures. However, this multimodal communication is more commonly observed in chimpanzees when compared to bonobos, who more frequently use vocalizations exclusively, without signals from additional modalities. In addition, there are a number of marked differences in social characteristics between the two species. Though both species exhibit fission–fusion behavior, chimpanzees do so more often, potentially as a result of their habitat profile and foraging strategies. Differences also exist in terms of dominance and aggression. Chimpanzees live in largely patriarchal societies with strong male–male bonds, whereas bonobos tend to be matriarchal with strong female–female bonds. These differences in communicative and social characteristics are thought to be linked to the ecology of the respective habitats of the two apes and their strategies for resource exploitation. In all likelihood, similarities in feeding ecology played a crucial role in selecting for the advanced cognitive abilities of both species—e.g., producing meaningful communicative signals, regulating competition and group cohesion, and making and utilizing tools to aid in foraging. Similarly, differences in their respective habitats may have led to selection for characteristics resulting in the behavioral differences observed today between the two species. Therefore, a clearer understanding of the similarities and differences between the two species most closely related to humans will provide valuable information into our own evolution by elucidating those characteristics shared among humans and our ape ancestors and those derived in the hominin lineage.

Purpose of the article is to analyze the history and practice of the «Atlas Weekend» festival, its cultural component and organizational differences from other major music festivals in Ukraine. Methodology. The methodology of the study: is the combination of biographical and textual analysis with the method of included observation. Scientific novelty. The author presents the social and communication characteristics and discloses the information principles of the organization of the festival Atlas Weekend. His history and peculiarities of the artistic program are investigated, modern musical terminology is used in the research. Conclusions. The article analyzes the development of the largest musical festival in Ukraine. The achievements of the «Atlas Weekend» festival, the actual problems of the creative industry in the field of musical culture, are analyzed on the basis of Internet space and articles in specialized editions. The whole European cultural industry is built on the demand of consumers, artificially created and imposed by Western tendencies. Ukrainian festivals, although trying to adapt to the European festival space and still remain too conservative for the European listener, and Western media have created the idea that Ukraine is not the best option for leisure. Such informational defamation has appeared on the side of the Western media, both during Euro 2012 and during the Eurovision 2017. The author presents the social and communication characteristics and discloses the information principles of the organization of the festival «Atlas Weekend». It explores its history and features with the use of modern musical terminology. The urgency of the study is due to the lack of sufficient information in Ukrainian scientific sources on the development of modern festival culture in Ukraine. We must admit that the masters of sciences are concentrated mainly at festivals of classical music, and do not explore poly-genres festivals at all.

- Studies in Family Planning
Social demographic and communication characteristics of 3 groups of women practicing family planning in West Malaysia were studied through data collected from a baseline fertility survey of 5457 women aged 15-44 in 1966-1967 (immediately prior to initiation of the national family planning program) and from a sample of 2605 women representing 14 months of acceptors (May 1967-June 1968) who were interviewed in a 1969 survey of women registered in the national family planning program to identify factors influencing contraceptive adoption and program enrollment. Previous users (31% of the 1969 sample who reported using or doing something to prevent pregnancy) were compared to ever users (14% of the baseline survey who reported ever using modern or traditional folk methods to prevent more children). Characteristics of previous users compared to ever users include: 1) higher perception of urban background (although more rural in current residence); 2) higher socioeconomic status and level of education; 3) higher number of children for all age groups except those 25-29; 4) more favorable attitudes among husbands kin peers; 5) more verbal communication about family planning; 6) more contact with mass media family planning messages. Differences in work experiences were insignificant. New users demonstrated similar differentials compared to never users although more came from urban areas. The greater availability of services and messages in urban areas may account for some of these differences although 65% of the new users were from rural areas. The differences suggest that acceptance is associated with a motivation combination of high opportunity to find information and high pressure to do so. Adoption-time is similarly characterized. Ever and previous users began contraception before May 1967; new users began later. Caution is advised in using these differentials to identify causal factors influencing adoption demand; multivariate statistical procedures should be used and further analysis is necessary to determine whether communication and peer use affect contraception adoption as do social and demographic characteristics.

The article researches the theoretical aspects of brand- and PR-management of enterprises in the hotel and restaurant industry as one of the tools for increasing the competitiveness of tourist enterprises. The authors singled out such main characteristics of the brand as brand awareness, brand identity, brand penetration, brand associations, brand loyalty, and others; determined the theoretical aspects of the formation and functioning of branding, PR management and marketing communications in the hotel and tourism business in general. Research has shown that brand management and PR management are the most effective means of market promotion of services that contribute to increasing the profitability and volume of sales of goods or services, expanding the range and knowledge of consumers about their uniqueness and specialness. It has been proven that the effectiveness of branding management includes the formation, adjustment, strengthening and activation of the development of relationships between potential buyers of the product and the brand due to the creation and actualization of its individual, functional, social and communicative characteristics, as well as ensuring the recognition and identification of the trademark due to the management of its constituent components (graphics, colors, sounds, logo, advertising slogan and name). The concept of "brand" is identified as a system of combined elements that summarize the opinions, positions and perceptions of consumers about a certain product or service, organization or person. At the same time, the process of brand management is provided through the creation of a brand concept, its formation and promotion to the market thanks to branding. Five main stages (phases) within brand management are defined, the most important of which is the formation of a brand vision, because it is this stage that combines the development of the name and advertising slogan or slogan of a service or product, identification of the most basic means and tools of its promotion on the market, as well as the formation of a brand portrait, which is reproduced through the creation and strengthening of a positive image of the product in the perception of existing and potential customers and society in general. The components of the brand were determined, the factors of branding formation were considered, the "brand pyramid" was formed, and the brand management scheme was built. The task of PR is singled out as one of the functions of management.

Research has shown that many people use social networking sites (SNS) excessively, which may lead to various negative consequences. With the aim of reducing SNS addition, this study investigates the role of SNS characteristics in the formation of SNS addiction. By applying incentive sensitization theory in the context of SNS addiction, we suggest that the compulsive motivation for using an SNS is developed by pleasurable and rewarding SNS use experiences. Social network characteristics and communication characteristics, which determine the rewards that users obtain from SNS use, moderate the relationship between habitual SNS use and SNS addiction. We develop novel behavioral measures of habitual SNS use and SNS addiction based on SNS activity logs and empirically test the research model using a large and unique dataset. Besides contributing to the theoretical development of SNS addiction, the results of this study offer practical options to help prevent SNS addiction. Moreover, the measures of SNS addiction enable the automated monitoring of user behavior on SNS, which could be useful for detecting potential SNS addicts.

Given the substantial penetration of social networks in citizens' everyday life activities, the success of a public safety system depends on the citizens' incentivization by the Emergency Control Center (ECC), and their effective effort contribution in the overall disaster management operation. In this paper, we introduce a formal method based on the principles of Contract Theory, to identify the optimal rewards to the citizens from the ECC's perspective, and the optimal invested effort from the citizens' side, referred to as contract pairs. The identification of these contract pairs (i.e., rewards and respective efforts) between the ECC and each citizen, depend on each citizen's social and communication characteristics that are used to define their specific type and profile, while they are properly reflected in the corresponding designed utility functions to be optimized. The problem under consideration is treated for both cases of complete (ideal) and incomplete (realistic) information availability, with respect to the level of knowledge of the ECC about the exact type of each citizen. The overall framework was evaluated via modeling and simulation, in terms of its efficiency and effectiveness, by studying multiple operation approaches and scenarios.

We study the impact of social connectivity on the capacity of wireless networks by considering different values of concentration factor and degree dispersion in scale-free networks. The result shows that a capacity similar to Gupta and Kumar [1] is achieved. Further investigation reveals that traditional transport capacity definition provides misleading conclusions for such network models. We show that nodes with different social status impact the capacity differently. By separating nodes with different social status in frequency and allocating separate bandwidth to them, it is shown that majority of nodes scale in this network. The results imply that in a network with social and communication characteristics, social behavior of the nodes has significant influence on the performance of such networks.

The research was aimed at determining the farmers’ knowledge about sustainable agricultural techniques in potato cultivation by identifying their personal, social, economic and communication characteristics. In addition, the intention of research was to find a connection between the farmer's knowledge of potato cultivation in sustainable agricultural techniques and independent variables that characterize the farmers. These studies were based on primary data collected in the years 2014–2016 on a representative sample of 152 potato producers in the Mazovian province. A standardized structure questionnaire was used to collect the field data through personal interviews. The questionnaire consisted of two parts: the first part contained independent variables (age, level of education, marital status, occupation, sex, source of income), while the second one consisted of an assessment test of potato producer knowledge on sustainable agricultural techniques. The results showed that knowledge about potato cultivation for sustainable agricultural techniques is medium with a low tendency. Among the socio-economic variables, the level of education and occupation were the most important factors influencing the knowledge of a farmer-producer of potato with sustainable agricultural techniques in the studied area. The significant differences occurred between knowledge about potato cultivation for sustainable agricultural techniques according to variables in categories (age, level of education and profession). Only three independent variables had a significant link to the adoption of innovation in agriculture: source of income, level of education and occupation.

Aim: Leisure activities in adolescents with Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) tend to focus on Internet activities, especially online games. Online gaming addiction has been observed in ADHD populations. Game genres and characteristics may affect addiction in ADHD adolescents who play online games. This study aims to contribute to the literature by examining the Internet gaming disorder (IGD) risk effects and game genres of hyperactivity/impulsivity, inattention, and ADHD index separately. Methods: A total of 884 adolescents playing online games were included. Participants answered the online game features form, Conners-Wells’ adolescent self-report scale—long version and digital gaming addiction scale—short form under the observation of their teachers. Game genres and ADHD symptomatology (Inattention, Hyperactivity/impulsivity, ADHD index) were categorized within themselves. Results: IGD was significant in all subcomponents of ADHD symptomatology. In all subcomponents, insulting/threatening speeches were found in the chat tab. In the Hyperactivity/impulsivity component, more hours of online gaming and spending real money on in-game advantages were found. In the Inattention and ADHD index, the amount of gaming in the social environment of the adolescents was high. In ADHD symptomatology, no significant results were found in game genres (except sports in the Inattention component). nclusion: Although levels of online gaming are high in adolescents with ADHD, a bidirectional relationship is likely. We believe that social factors and communicative characteristics are important in relational factors in adolescents. Longitudinal studies should be conducted to answer important empirical questions about the relationship between ADHD-IGD and game genres.
