Abstract

The RS3PE syndrome (remitting seronegative symmetrical synovitis with pitting edema) was described by McCarty in 1985. The description refers to a seronegative arthritis connected to rheumatic polymyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis in the elderly, and differential diagnosis must be done due to fact that clinical manifestation might get mixed. Prognosis is usually good but the possibility of association with malignancies and evolution towards other rheumatic disease must be taken into account. We present a patient seen at our Primary Health Care Center.
