Abstract

We report a case of a 76 year-old man who presented with superior vena cava syndrome of 24-48hours duration. Transthoracic echocardiogram showed a mass in right atrium, which originated in the superior vena cava, and was confirmed in the transesophageal echocardiogram. A thoracic computed tomography was then performed which showed an intraluminal defect which completely filled the superior vena cava, the arch of the azygos vein, part of the right atrium, the right brachiocephalic vein and the right internal mammary vein. The computed tomography also showed some pathological paraaortic and paratracheal lymph nodes. The paratracheal lymph node was biopsied using bronchoscopy, with the result of pancreatic cancer.
