Abstract

A wideband aperture-coupled patch antenna is presented. The proposed antenna consists of patches in different sizes and a ground plane, which is fed by a microstrip line through a slot cut on the plane ground. Owing to the patches of different size and the slot on the ground, three resonance modes are excited simultaneously for the radiation at the boresight. The proposed antenna yields a wide bandwidth of about 31% with a low profile of 0.07 λ 0 ( λ 0 is the free space wavelength at the centre operating frequency). The results are validated by both numerical simulation and experimental measurements.
