Summary

Introduction

Diabetes was one of the first described [1] which is a heterogeneous group of diseases characterized by chronic elevation of glucose in the blood. Diabetes affects some 300 million people world-wide and is on the increase. Chronic exposure to high blood glucose is a leading cause of renal failure, visual loss and a range of other types of tissue damage [2]. About 422 million people have diabetes worldwide [3] up from an estimated 382 million people in 2013 [4]. In 2014, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) estimated that diabetes resulted in 4.9 million deaths worldwide, [5] where more than 80% of diabetic deaths occured [6,7,8,9,10]. In 2013, WHO stated that early diagnosis can be accomplished through relatively inexpensive blood testing
