Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to determine anxiery-related factors preventing HIV/AIDSpatients from developing adherence to treatment, which becomes a risk behaviour for the individual patient and for the spread of the disease. The sample consisted of 38 HIV/AIDS patients, 21 of whom wete able to develop treatment adherence and 17 were not. For data collection, Tobal and Cano's Inventory of Anxiety Situations and Responses (1988) was used. Thisinstrumentis based on the interactionist thcoty, and assesses cognitive, physiological and motor anxiety responses to everyday situations. The results show that HIV/ AIDSpatients who adhere to treatment have a lower anxiety level than those who do not, regarding physiological and motor response as well as anxiety-generating situations, such as interpersonal situations and evaluation, Regarding cognitive response, phobic anxiety and everyday situations, no significant difference was found between the groups.

Martin y Grau (2004, citados por Villa y Vinaccia, 2006) refieren que la adhesión al tratamiento implica un compromiso activo y voluntario pot parte del paciente con el objetivo de lograr los resultados deseados en su tratamiento. 1.
