Abstract

The Mott Lecture is awarded to scientists working in the tradition of Nobel laureate Sir Nevill F. Mott, with exceptional contributions to the fields important to the ICANS conference. The ICANS23 Mott Lecture was awarded to Prof. Dr. Sigurd Wagner of Princeton University. He is recognized for his groundbreaking research, both fundamental and applied, on amorphous semiconductors as well as chalcopyrites. He introduced the concept of macroelectronics by developing thin film devices on glass, metal or plastics. In this manner he also contributed to environmentally benign applications such as solar cells and displays with lower materials and energy consumption. The ICANS23 Organizing Committee and the International Advisory Committee also appreciate his efforts to promote our research field through active contributions to the ICA(L,M,N)S Conferences and MRS Spring Meetings series and his capability to engage young researchers in our field.
