Abstract

In the transmission line with T-type branch, it is difficult to utilize single-terminal power frequency fault information or travelling wave fault information to implement fault location in different situations. This paper analyzes the travelling wave propagation characteristics of the transmission line with T-type branch and proposes a fault branch identification and fault location method based on fault travelling wave catadioptric characteristics. Upload the fault location results of the T-type transmission line based on the single-terminal travelling wave fault location method to the master dispatching station, and utilize the fault location results based on the power frequency fault information at the master station as references to obtain the final fault location results. This method is independent with the polarity relationship between the fault travelling waves, fully utilizes the fault information of the master station and realizes the on-line correction of travelling wave velocity to obtain optimized results. ATP/EMTP simulation results indicate that this method is of high accuracy and certain practical value.
