Abstract
Se estudian en este artículo los principales ejemplos en Málaga capital de la denominada "arquitectura de ladrillo" del siglo XIX, término con el que se definen las edificaciones cuyos exteriores dejan a la vista este material. Se atienden las razones estéticas, económicas e ideológicas que determinanel uso de esta modalidad constructiva, se especifica su relación con el neomudéjar, se fijan sus diferencias con el resto de la arquitectura decimonónica y se analizan los edificios por tipologías.
