Abstract

We propose in this work a new method based on the “Mirage effect” which permits the simultaneous determination of thermal conductivity and diffusivity. This method consists in comparing the experimental photothermal signal variation with the square root of the modulation frequency to the corresponding theoretical one. The coincidence between the experimental and theoretical curves will permit to deduce the values of thermal diffusivity and conductivity. The obtained values of thermal conductivity and diffusivity are in good agreement with those existing in literature (Table 1).
