Abstract

AbstractComputer simulation. Modern simulation tools such as simulation languages, simulation systems, simulation environments, and expert systems support the user in solving complex simulation problems. Partial problems to be solved are the mathematical modelling of the system under consideration, the selection and application of numerical methods, the programming of the simulation problem, and the execution of simulator experiments. In this survey various methods are reviewed for the simulation of continuous dynamic systems as far as this is essential for an evaluation of available or new simulation programms. Moreover, conceptions of knowledge‐based simulation environments and intelligent simulators are discussed.
