Abstract
Meeting the user community needs of Operational Responsive Space (ORS) is a Department of Defense objective that is increasing in desirability for the immediate future. ORS is the ability to leverage Space Force Enhancement, maintain Space Control, and provide Space Support during and after a space vulnerability is realized. Questions being addressed include how are the boots on the ground integrated into ORS; what are the potential integration and operational efficiencies to be leveraged by the newly established ORS Program Office; and how will the deployed Joint Force Commander control spacebased battlefield support? Currently, the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Strategic Forces Command’s Future Warfare Center is adding a space perspective to existing simulations. Space enabled simulation provides a medium to analyze the operational impacts of degraded, lost, and reinforced space services. Accounting for and representing current and future space system models and simulations in experimentation, acquisition, test & evaluation, planning, operations, and maintenance support of the battlefield is essential for measuring and analyzing the effects of space threats and responsive space solutions. A space perspective in simulations and analysis contributes to “information dominance” by quantifying and conveying the effects of space based threats, assets, and responsive solutions in the joint integrated battlespace.
