Abstract
The microstructural development can be simulated by modeling of diffusional field, as well as by modeling of dissolution and precipitation processes for liquid - solid system. It is well known from many experiments with mixtures of small and large particles that during liquid phase sintering smaller particles partially dissolve and a solid phase precipitates on the larger particles. This solution-precipitation process leads to further densification by rearrangement of smaller and larger particles. The microstructure may change either by larger particles growing during the Ostwald ripening or by shape accommodation.
