Abstract

This study, salinity distribution in Iwon Lake simulated using EFDC (Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code) model. It also constructed a grid of the freshwater lake using SMS (Surface Water Modeling System) model. For the grid system, rectangular coordinate system was used, a total of 2,620 effective computation grids were constructed and applied to the model. A boundary condition for water level and flux was built through meteorological data and the operation data of lock gates operation data, and for the initial condition, the actually measured data of water level was used. For the model's boundary condition for the salinity simulation of the freshwater lake, data measured from 5 sites located in the lake was used, for the salinity concentration of influx water at the basin, 0.2 ppt was applied and for the salinity concentration of influx water from the outside the breakwater, seawater condition was applied (30 ppt). For the simulation of salinity, using measured data of salinity concentration from 2006 to 2008, it turned out that there was applicability of the EFDC model.
