Abstract

Modern production plants are characterized by enhanced complexity considering increased automation and enlarged integration of computers. Therefore duration and risks of planning are increasing. In addition putting into operation of new or modified plants bring about considerable complications with start-up operation and furthermore decreases in rate of production. The main source of this behavior is often the insufficient tuning of the single devices. The aim of this paper is to give stimulus to utilize “simulation”, which is well known as a planning tool for a considerable time. However it is being used too less in order to find solution to the problems mentioned above.
